Learn about illustrating children’s books and art techniques from award winning artist David Diaz. Participants will have a chance to practice their drawing skills. Program participants will receive a book illustrated by Mr. Diaz.

Dia de Los Muertos Celebration
Saturday, October 31, 10am – Noon
Meet at the Farmers’ Market Kids’ area at 10am for a Halloween Costume Parade that ends at the library at 10:30 where families can join us for a traditional Dia de Los Muertos celebration. Performers from La Piñata will present interactive sonajas and danza Azteca – Tonantzin + Ehekatl. Participants will leave with a mini Day of the Dead altar. Don’t forget to bring a picture of a deceased loved one to add to the library’s traditional Day of the Dead altar. Traditional Mexican hot chocolate and pan de muerto will be served.

Wednesday, Thursdays, 3:30-4:30pm Homework Assistance Program for children in Grades 18. On Thursdays, from 4-6pm, a Boston Teacher’s Union Teacher is available for homework help.
Job Opportunity for High School Students

Help New Bostonians Practice English
Volunteers are needed to co-lead conversation groups for English language learners. Volunteer on Thursdays from 6-7:30pm and/or on Saturdays from 9:30-11am.

The Friends are in need of children’s books. Donate your gently used books at the library during regular business hours. Tripping around spare LEGOs? Donate extra LEGOs to the library during regular business hours.
