“What our next president needs to do”
By Mustafa Jama
I think our next president can unite the country around racial tensions by not dehumanizing people based on their race and religion. When our next president steps into office they should address discrimination against Muslims, provide immigrants an opportunity to become citizens and heighten security in America to protect the American people from terrorist groups.
On November 13, 2015 there was a terrorist attack in Paris. There were 130 people who died. After the attack happened in Paris, some people from the general public assumed all Muslim Americans were responsible for the attack. When our future president is in the office he/she should address the hatred/stereotyping towards Muslims who are not a part of ISIS, but only a small group. There are lots of things that our new president can do to make this world a better place.
Our new president can also work towards improving immigration in America. There are about 11.7 million immigrants living in the United States illegally, but this is maybe due to safety. Immigrants come to America illegally because there might be wars and killings in their country. They seek refuge, freedom and a better life. When our future president steps in office he/she should give everyone a chance to take the test to become an American citizen.
Lastly, the next president should give people of all race free education. I think Bernie Sanders will make a good president. He said, “ Everyone is different and no one is the same. But I will stand near everyone no matter what happens. I will help all different gender and color.” I hope that our new president can make the United States better again.
