Meet the New Library Assistant!
If you have been to the Roslindale Branch Library lately, you may have seen this new face! Her name is Tresa Owens-Powell, and she is the new library assistant. She comes here from the Uphams Corner Branch Library, where she worked for a year. Before working for the Boston Public Library, Tresa worked as an office manager for 14 years at her family’s business, Cliff and Sons Electric, which operated in Dorchester 32 years. After the business closed, she changed careers into library science. Currently she is reading the James Brown biography Cold Sweat written by his daughter Yamma Brown.
When asked about what is the best part of working in a public library: “I think it’s important for children to start reading early. I get excited when kids come in for books and working with everyone who comes to the library.”
The next time you are in the library, say hi to Tresa!
