December 2015 Library Events
All programs take place at the Roslindale Branch Library and are free of charge. Call the branch at 617-3232343 for more information. Please note these holiday hours: On December 24 and 31, the library will be open from 9am-5pm. The library will be closed on December 25 and January 1.
Rozzie Reads Poetry: Featured Poets and Open Mic

Note Location: Roslindale House Community Room, 120 Poplar Street, Roslindale Street parking on Hawthorne and Poplar streets, in unnumbered spaces, and at rear of building.
Open Mic follows readings by featured poets Sandra Storey and David Miller.

Parent to Parent: Learn about your BPS options: Parent to Parent

Parents of children attending BPS schools will talk about the lottery process and other information from a parent perspective. Schools to be discussed are Roslindale/Mattapan: Mozart, Bates, Conley, and Mattahunt. This list is subject to change. Additional schools TBD.
A second program discussing the West Roxbury/Hyde Park: Kilmer, Beethoven, Lyndon, Grew schools will take place on December 3, 6pm-7:30pm at the BCYF Roslindale Community Center 6 Cummins Highway
Adult Book Discussion

A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler is this month’s book selection. Holiday refreshments served.
Special Event! Posada Navideña

The parade kicks off at Romano’s at 6pm with stops at locations throughout the Square for caroling and small gifts for children. It ends at the library with hot chocolate, tamales, a piñata from 6:30pm-8pm. Join the fun! Can you help the library distribute gifts and food that night? If so, email us.
Annual Posada Navidena

A true Mexican and now Roslindale tradition. Nativity reenactment of Joseph and Mary seeking lodging or “Posada”. Come dressed super warm to carol around Roslindale Village for “Posada” accompanied by Mariachi Estrella de Boston. We will start our caroling at Romano’s located at 4249 Washington St. Roslindale at 6pm sharp followed by Tony’s Market. We will then head over across the Village to Centre Cuts, The Cheese Cellar, Joanne Rossman, Birch St. House & Garden and end our celebration at The Roslinale Branch of the Public Library where the Friends of the Library will be generously waiting to greet us with books, pinatas and goodie bags for the children as well as traditional Mexican food prepared by local residents Alejandro Rodriguez and Lucy Galvan.

Creative Drama for Children ages 7-12 will not meet on December 30.
ESL Conversation Groups will not meet on Thursday December 24, 31, and Saturday, December 26, and January 2.
